Community Outreach

URBAN MINISTRIES OF DURHAM - We prepare and serve meals bi-monthly on the fourth Wednesday night.

MOMENT FOR MISSION - A special offering is received on the third Sunday of each month for various local and global missions.

CENTS-ABILITY - This offering is collected by the children on the last Sunday of each month. Families set aside money each meal at home to feed the hungry people of Durham and the world.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY - We gather together to work on a home for a deserving family. A wonderful time to put your talents to use as God intended while enjoying fellowship with others.

DISASTER RELIEF - We take an active role in offering disaster assistance. We provided housing for a family who lost everything in Hurricane Katrina. They returned to New Orleans on Sunday, Feb 19, 2006.

CROP WALK - An annual event held in Durham and nationwide to raise money concerning hunger that exists throughout the country and the world.

BREAKFAST WITH ST. NICHOLAS - Held on a Saturday morning in early December.Your ticket includes: a piping hot breakfast buffet, your child's picture taken with St. Nick himself, crafts for the kids to complete, and face painting. Every ticket is entered into a drawing for door prizes to be given away during the breakfast. Purchase your tickets in advance at the church office or on the morning of the event.

THE ANGEL TREE - The Angel Tree is placed in the narthex during Christmas and filled with ornaments, gifts and items of need for families within our Durham Community. Individuals choose an ornament and provide the gifts for our adopted families.

SAMARITAN'S PURSE - The Christmas Shoebox program begins in October. Shoeboxes are decorated and filled with toys, games and hygiene items and shipped to children overseas.

Fellowship

WEDNESDAY NIGHT DINNERS - Held the third Wednesday of each month. Delicious home-cooked meals are prepared by church members. Friendships are created and strengthened. Following the meal, various committees meet, as does the Chancel Choir and hand bells.

COVERED DISH MEALS - All cooks, male and female offer their very best to be shared by everyone. Covered dish meals are held several times during the year.

PARENTS' NIGHT OUT - An opportunity to leave children with capable adult care while parents enjoy an evening out. Occurs bi-monthly on the fourth Saturday. Child care is available from 6:00 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. for infants through age 12.

LUNCH BUNCH - Open to all on the last Tuesday of each month for a couple of hours of fellowship and exploration of different restaurants in the area. The group meets at the church at 11:00 a.m. See photos from the latest Lunch Bunch get-together on the IMAGE GALLERY.

YAC - Monthly gathering of youger adults who enjoy sharing friendship and food at restaurants in the Triangle.
